An interview with: Jon Weddle, Republican, Rains County Precinct 2 Commissioner candidate

Jon Weddle has been praying about his run for Rains County Precinct 2 Commissioner for a good while. Weddle explained that he began considering a run after he was approached by a man who encouraged him to do so. “The Lord speaks through people,” he said. “I had thought about it before. I worked for the county about a year and a half before I went to start another business. I feel like the Lord is leading me down this path.”

Weddle explained that he was elected to the school board around 2001. He said that he had not known much about what needed to be done but had felt the Lord guiding him then as well.

Looking into the pay scale for Rains County Road & Bridge crew employees would be a priority for Weddle, should he be elected. “They do a lot of work,” he explained. “They don’t seem to get paid as much as they could. I don’t really have an agenda besides that.”

Currently, Weddle is working to open his own trailer-making business and is hopeful about his future as the possible Precinct 2 Commissioner-elect. “With His help, I can help make this a better place to live,” he said.

Weddle is running against incumbent Mike Willis in the Precinct 2 Commissioner race.
